Nagpur, India: A smuggling attempt was thwarted at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport when a passenger was caught carrying gold worth several lakhs of rupees hidden in his underwear. The passenger, who had arrived from Jeddah and was about to board a connecting flight to Kuwait on Friday, was intercepted by Customs officials after crossing the Green Channel.

Upon interrogation by the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU), officials discovered the gold concealed in a chemical paste form within the waistband of his underwear. Acting on prior intelligence, the AIU had been monitoring the passenger's movements closely.

In an official statement, Customs authorities said, "A passenger arriving from Jeddah via Kuwait on November 28, 2024, was intercepted based on suspicious behaviour. A thorough investigation led to the recovery of concealed gold."

The case is under investigation as officials work to identify the smuggling network behind the attempt.
