Vidarbha, India: In a significant development for the Vidarbha region, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually inaugurate three airports—Nagpur, Amravati, and Shirdi—on October 9, coinciding with the auspicious Navratri festival. The inauguration is set to mark a major milestone in enhancing air connectivity in the region.
Nagpur's Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport is fully equipped to meet world-class standards, and the GMR Group has secured the contract to operate the facility. Alongside the Nagpur airport, PM Modi will also inaugurate the new terminal buildings at the Amravati and Shirdi airports.
As of now, there has been no official confirmation from the State Government regarding the attendance of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde or Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar at the inauguration ceremonies.
Former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed his excitement about the upcoming inauguration, stating, "I am extremely happy that the Honorable Supreme Court has cleared the construction of a world-class international brownfield airport at Nagpur. It was my dream, and I worked hard for the same. This development will power the real takeoff of MIHAN Nagpur, Maharashtra."
The inauguration of these airports is expected to significantly boost the region's connectivity and economic development, enhancing travel options for residents and visitors alike.
