PM Modi Virtually Inaugurated New Medical Colleges in Gadchiroli

Vidarbha, Gadchiroli, India: Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced that the number of medical colleges in Maharashtra has significantly increased from 387 in 2014 to 706 currently, making it the state with the highest number of medical colleges. He made this statement during an online event on October 9, where he launched several new government medical colleges in the state, emphasizing Maharashtra’s leadership in health education.

Deputy Chief Minister and district guardian minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that, as part of the initiative to establish a government medical college in each district, 10 new medical colleges are being launched in the state. He expressed his satisfaction with this development.

Incharge Collector Ayushi Singh stated that the establishment of a medical college in Gadchiroli has created educational opportunities for students in the district and surrounding areas to pursue studies in medicine and encouraged them to take full advantage of this opportunity.

Dr. Avinash Tekade announced that the medical college in Gadchiroli has been approved to admit 100 students, with admissions based on merit during the third round of the NIT entrance examination for the current session. Of the total seats, 85 will be reserved for residents of Maharashtra, while 15 seats will be available for students from across India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated the Gadchiroli Medical College. The event was attended by Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, along with other Union ministers, who participated via television. The program was broadcast live from the Niyojan Bhawan in the Collectorate.

During the event, key attendees included Incharge Collector and Zilla Parishad CEO Ayushi Singh, MP Dr. Namdevrao Kirsan, former MP Ashok Nete, MLA Dr. Devrao Holi, Dean of the medical college Dr. Avinash Tekade, and District Surgeon Dr. Madhuri Kilnake.
