Nagpur, India: To prevent disorderly conduct by intoxicated individuals during the upcoming Pola festival, the City Police will deploy 23 pick-up vans to detain those found causing disturbances. Senior police officials have announced that these individuals will be held at police headquarters to maintain public order.
The city police have implemented a comprehensive security plan, which includes deploying 4,000 officers and 23 specialized vans to control drunk driving and public misconduct. In addition, the police have intensified checks on illegal gambling dens and the sale of illicit liquor, both of which are common during the Pola festival.
The security arrangements will involve seven Deputy Commissioners of Police, 16 Assistant Commissioners of Police, 55 Police Inspectors, and 350 Assistant Police Inspectors and Sub-Inspectors. Additional support will come from a State Reserve Force unit and 1,000 Home Guards to ensure safety throughout the event.
The city will see 13 'Marbat' and 15 'Badga' processions on Tuesday. To prevent confusion and ensure smooth proceedings, the police have issued clear guidelines regarding the routes for these processions.
To maintain order and minimize noise pollution, the police have also banned the use of DJs and laser lights during the Marbat processions. Commissioner of Police Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal has stated that any violation of the DJ ban will lead to immediate police action, and laser lights will not be permitted during the event.
