Police Seize ₹25,500 Worth of Banned Nylon Manja in Nagpur

Nagpur, India: On November 27, the Yashodhara Nagar Police raided a house in Ashraf Nagar and confiscated a large quantity of illegal nylon manja, a type of banned kite string.

Acting on credible information, the police searched the rented residence of 49-year-old Sagir Israr Ansari and seized 51 spools of nylon manja valued at approximately ₹25,500.

Ansari was found in possession of the banned material, which he allegedly intended to sell for personal profit. The nylon manja, prohibited by law due to its environmental and safety risks, was confiscated on the spot.

The accused has been booked at Yashodhara Nagar Police Station under Sections 5 and 15 of the Environmental Protection Act, 1986, and further investigations are ongoing.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 5) Niketan Kadam and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Jaripatka Division) Vishal Kshirsagar. The team included Senior Police Inspector Ramesh Khune, Sub-Inspectors Suhas Raut and Ravikumar Sawatkar, along with police personnel Sunny Matel, Rohit Ramteke, and Rahul Shetty.
