In a major relief for thousands of state officers and employees, the Maharashtra government has addressed a long-pending issue related to caste validity certificates for Scheduled Tribe employees. According to the 2019 General Administration Department’s decision, many employees were facing challenges regarding service-related and retirement benefits due to their caste validity certificates being declared illegal. This affected around 5,000 employees in Nagpur and nearly 30,000 employees across the state, causing delays in pay raises and retirement benefits.
After continued efforts and pressure from various leaders, including BJP leader Pravin Datke, the government finally took action. Yesterday, in a significant decision at the state cabinet meeting, the government resolved the issue by forgiving a 1-day technical gap in the service records of these employees. This decision will now allow them to receive their long-awaited service and retirement benefits.
Following this breakthrough, Pravin Datke personally thanked Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in Mumbai for considering the plight of thousands of superintendent employees across the state and bringing about a positive resolution.
This decision has brought much-needed relief and financial stability to employees who were previously struggling with service-related difficulties.
