Nagpur, India: A 4th rape case has been filed against Vijay Gheywat, a psychologist accused of sexually assaulting young girls under the guise of mental health therapy and career guidance. This latest complaint adds to a list of allegations against him, pointing to a grim picture of exploitation and abuse at his clinic in east Nagpur.

The recent victim, a former resident of Gheywat’s clinic, reported repeated abuse during so-called "therapy sessions." She alleged that she was drugged, making her unable to recall events clearly, and later discovered she had been filmed in compromising positions. More videos of other victims were found in his possession.

The latest survivor, an orphan, had lost her father in a hit-and-run incident after her mother’s death. She inherited insurance money and wealth, which Gheywat reportedly manipulated for personal benefit. Rescued by the Women and Child Development Department, the survivor is now in a government shelter but fears for her safety once she leaves.

Despite his arrest in November 2024, key details about Gheywat’s clinic remain unclear. Police have not found registration documents for his counselling centre or proof of his affiliation with any professional psychologists’ associations. His academic qualifications, including a postgraduate degree in psychology from RTM University Nagpur, are under scrutiny.

Meanwhile, Gheywat’s wife, Mrunal, and another accused, Pallavi Belkhode, remain on the run. Investigators believe they hold information about the clinic's operations and possible additional crimes.

The case gained traction after a former victim, subjected to relentless blackmail, approached the police. The complaint was initially lodged at Sadar police station before being transferred to Hudkeshwar police, where the action began in late November. Gheywat is now facing multiple charges, including those under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

This case has sparked widespread outrage, with demands for a stricter overview of mental health and counselling services. Authorities have urged other victims to come forward, promising a thorough investigation to ensure justice.
