In a high-profile transfer move, R Ashwin has rejoined the India Cements, clearing way for his return to the Chennai Super Kings fold. As part of the contract, Ashwin is all set to assume command of the Chennai Super Kings High Performance Centre, which is coming erected in the outskirts of the city and is anticipated to be fully functional before the start of the next IPL season.
The transfer move means there is a good probability that Ashwin might return with CSK during the big player auctions set for the conclusion of this year.
With this being a big player auction, a trade off between CSK and Rajasthan Royals is ruled out since they won’t be able to keep him. In case, CSK are not able to get Ashwin at the auctions, the only other chance is they make a deal post the player auctions.
Ashwin had a bright start to his domestic career, but it was with CSK in the 2009 and 2010 seasons that he rose to national attention. His performances ultimately opened the national doors and had been a key element of the franchise from 2008-2015.
Ashwin will be working for India Cements and CSK for the second time. Ashwin joined the team during his early IPL career and left India Cements in 2016, quickly joining Chemplast, their competitors.
Then, in 2018, Ashwin moved to Take Solutions, the company that owns the Tamil Nadu Premier League team he plays for, the Dindigul Dragons.
