Nagpur, India: A fresh case has been registered against notorious criminal Roshan Qayyum Sheikh (37) and his younger brother Abu Faisal Sheikh (24) for threatening and tricking a rape victim into withdrawing her complaint.  

Roshan, who was already in jail for rape, convinced the victim to take back her case by promising to marry her. His brother, Faisal, also misbehaved with her and later blackmailed and threatened her.  

Last month, Sadar Police arrested Roshan after the victim filed a complaint against him. While he was in jail, Faisal contacted the victim through her friend, Durgesh Mishra. On 20th February, she met Faisal near the WCL office, where he begged her to withdraw the case, saying it would affect their mother’s health and their sister’s marriage.  

Later, Faisal arranged a jail meeting between Roshan and the victim on 24th February. During this meeting, Roshan promised to marry her if she withdrew the case and asked her to meet his lawyer.  

Two days later, Faisal met the victim again and warned her that Roshan had private photos and videos of her on his phone. He threatened to leak them if she didn’t help Roshan get bail. Faisal also took ₹15,000 from her.  

On 26th February, Roshan got bail with the help of his lawyer. After his release, Faisal took the victim in a car, where Roshan was also present. In the car, Faisal molested her, and Roshan assaulted her. Shockingly, Roshan then admitted he had tricked her just to get out of jail. He also threatened to throw acid on her and kill her.  

After the victim’s complaint, Gittikhadan Police have registered a new case against Roshan and Faisal under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The police are now investigating further.
