King Khan of Indian golf has returned with a swagger. Rashid Khan, who walked in lengthy putts and attacked even the most tucked-away pins, recorded an incredible six-under-par 64 in the first round of the $2 million Link Hong Kong Open.
Khan was one of the most gifted players to come out of India. He had been having trouble with his game for the past year, but there were enough signs that things were improving. After shooting 16-under at the PGTI Poona Open, he went on to shoot 22-under at the Jaipur Open, which he ultimately lost in a playoff.
Khan previously discussed his difficulties in August, particularly with his driver, and how they greatly impacted his otherwise outstanding short game.
On a course that does not encourage driver play, Khan blasted his driver on every hole on Thursday, hitting 16 of 18 greens and 12 of 14 fairways. He made a three-putt on his opening hole, which was his sole bogey. He finished in fifth place.
