Nagpur, India-  Ritika Dinesh Maloo faced a major setback on Tuesday when the Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court denied her anticipatory bail. Maloo is the primary accused in the 25th February Ram Jhula accident case, which resulted in the death of two victims. During the hearing of Malu's bail application, a vacation bench led by Justice Abhay Mantri issued notices to the state government, the police commissioner, and the Tehsil police station, directing them to submit their replies by June 13.

Maloo had initially desired pre-arrest bail from the district and sessions judge R S Bhosle (Patil), who denied her request. Subsequently, she approached the High Court for anticipatory bail. Malu's counsel, Adv Sukrut Sohoni, argued that the Tehsil police had initially charged her under sections 279, 338, and 304(a) of the IPC, along with section 184 of the Motor Vehicle Act, for which the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) had granted her bail. However, the police later added section 304 to the charges against Maloo when alcohol was found in the blood samples.
