Nagpur, India: Ganeshpeth Police Station has received a fresh new look after volunteers from I-Clean Nagpur, Rotary Club of Nagpur North, Rotaract Club, local residents, and police personnel came together on Sunday morning for a cleanliness drive. Around 70 people participated in the effort to clean and beautify the police station premises, spreading awareness about the importance of maintaining a clean city.

During the drive, volunteers painted murals and slogans promoting garbage segregation, reducing plastic use, tree plantation, and overall cleanliness. The initiative aimed to encourage people to take responsibility for keeping their surroundings clean. Many participants also suggested that cleanliness awareness should be introduced in schools to help children develop good habits from an early age.

The event saw an overwhelming response, with morning walkers, including women and senior citizens, joining the effort. The participation of both young Rotaractors and senior members added to the enthusiasm, making it a successful community-driven campaign.

I-Clean Nagpur, a voluntary group dedicated to cleaning and beautifying public spaces, has been working for over a decade. The group is known for painting walls with messages promoting cleanliness and traditional Warli art. The Ganeshpeth Police Station project marks their 240th clean-up spot in the city. Their mission follows the motto, "Cleanliness is next to godliness."

In addition to cleaning, the organisation actively promotes the ban on single-use plastics, educating the public on its harmful effects on the environment, animals, and human health. Their work aligns with the Nagpur@2025 vision, which aims for a cleaner and safer city through community involvement and administrative support.

I-Clean Nagpur consists of volunteers from different backgrounds, including students, homemakers, professionals, business owners, and retirees, ranging in age from 10 to 65 and above. The group has conducted clean-up drives at various locations such as railway stations, bus stops, lakes, schools, colleges, hospitals, and busy streets.

To sustain their activities, volunteers contribute ₹50 per month, with additional support from public donations. Their goal is to expand their model to other cities, encouraging people to take responsibility for cleanliness rather than relying on authorities alone.

I-Clean Nagpur invites all citizens to join their movement. Residents are urged to maintain the cleaned spaces by following proper garbage disposal practices.
