Nagpur, India: Nagpur’s old Santra Market will soon be transformed into a modern 19-storey complex. The Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation (MSIDC) has taken the initiative to rebuild the market near Nagpur Railway Station.
Last year, MSIDC signed an agreement with the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) to upgrade several markets, including Santra Market. The project will cost ₹288 crore and aims to give the market a modern look.
The new building will cover 4.8 lakh square feet and will have three basements, a ground floor, and upper floors. MSIDC recently selected an architect through a design competition and completed the project’s basic design. However, the tender for construction is yet to be issued.
The project will be developed under the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model, and work is expected to start soon, said MSIDC Managing Director Brijesh Dixit.
