Nagpur, India: The Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court has ruled that a Scheduled Caste (SC) student can now complete their nursing degree under the general category. Justices Bharti Dangre and Abhay Mantri made this decision by relieving the student.

The Bombay High Court's Nagpur Bench has directed that Vaibhav Tembekkar, a Scheduled Caste student, be admitted under a general category seat at the VSPM Madhuribai Deshmukh Institute of Nursing Education on Hingna Road.

Vaibhav Tembekkar was initially allocated a seat in the Scheduled Caste category at the same institute. However, due to bank holidays, his demand draft for the admission fee was delayed, and by the time it arrived, the SC category seats were full, leading to his denial of admission. Vaibhav then filed a petition in the High Court, which was accepted.

The institute had two open category seats available, with students scoring between 97 and 99 percentile already admitted. Vaibhav, with a percentile of 98.7, was granted an open category seat by the High Court based on his merit. Advocate Ashwin Ingole represented Vaibhav in the case.
