Senior Citizen Couple from Amravati Found Dead in Imamwada, Nagpur

Elderly couple from Amravati found hanging at their grandson's home in Nagpur. Police investigate tragic incident in Imamwada.

Nagpur, India-   The Chandan Nagar area was in shock when an elderly couple, 85-year-old Shriram Bapurao Katare and 82-year-old Shakuntalabai Bapurao Katare, were found hanging at their grandson’s home on Friday. This event occurred under the jurisdiction of the Imamwada police station.

According to police, the Katare couple, originally from Amravati, had moved to their grandson’s residence in Chandan Nagar, Nagpur, on May 26, 2024.

On Friday, June 21, Tejas Shriramji Parthi, 30, the complainant, attended a family function in the Hudkeshwar area with his family, leaving his grandparents alone at home.

Upon returning around 11 PM, the Parthi family found the door locked from the inside and received no response to their calls. Worried, Tejas entered through the back door and saw his grandfather Shriram hanging from the kitchen fan and his grandmother Shakuntalabai hanging in the bedroom.

The family immediately brought the elderly couple down and rushed them to the Government Medical College and Hospital, where doctors declared them dead on arrival.

A case of accidental death has been registered at the Imamwada police station, and further investigation is ongoing.
