The young 20-year-old Siya Deodhar of the Shivaji Nagar Gymkhana Club in Nagpur has been chosen to compete for India in the upcoming 19th Asian Games 2023, which will take place in Hangzhou, China, from September 23 to October 8. Siya will compete in the basketball 3X3 event at the Asian Games alongside her colleagues Anumaria Shaju, Yashneet Kaur, and Vaishnavi Yadav. The Indian squad will depart from Chennai for Hangzhou tomorrow night. The sole athlete from Nagpur to compete for India in the Basketball 3X3 division at the Asian Games is Siya.

The Indian squad will play two matches in the league, the first on September 25 against Uzbekistan and the second on September 27 against formidable China. The COVID pandemic forced the postponement of the 19th Asian Games, which were initially scheduled to take place in 2022. Siya, a 20-year-old emerging baller, was the only girl to get an award at each camp while being one of only three girls to attend all three NBA Academy India Women's camps to date (May 2018, January 2019, and October 2019).

Since she was six years old, Siya has been working out at the Shivaji Nagar Gymkhana with coaches Shatrughna Gokhale and Vinay Chikate, both of whom have received the Shiv Chhatrapati Award. Siya, a resident of Dharampeth in Nagpur, is the beloved daughter of Shreesh and Swati Deodhar. Siya competed in numerous National Basketball Championships on behalf of the Maharashtra State Basketball Team. She participated in the Senior Women's Indian Camp when she was barely 16 years old.

She joined Asmat Kaur Taunque, Harsimran Kaur, and Ann Mary Zachariah as the fourth athlete of Indian descent to play high school basketball in the US as of 2019. Only three girls, including Siya, have participated in all three NBA Academy India Women's camps to date (May 2018, January 2019, and October 2019), and she is the only one to have won an honor in each session.

She won the Most Improved Player award at the first camp. Then she won the "Teammate Award" in the following two camps. Siya, who is from Shivaji Nagar Gymkhana in Nagpur, has made significant progress in the junior ranks as evidenced by her selection to numerous international training and development camps.

She was one of seven Indians (four girls) who took part in the NCAA Next Generation Showcase in April 2019. She was one of four Indians (two girls) that attended the Basketball Without Border Asia Camp in Tokyo, Japan, in August of last year. She was one of three Indians (two females) chosen for the Basketball Without Borders Global Camp in Chicago in 2020, which was conducted over All-Star Weekend.
