Speeding Car Causes Fatal Accident at Somalwada Square, One Dead, Several Injured
Speeding car crashes at Somalwada Square, Nagpur, killing one and injuring several. Police register case, investigation underway.

Nagpur witnessed a tragic accident on the night of 14th March 2025 when a speeding Hyundai car lost control and crashed at Somalwada Square. The vehicle, travelling from Nagpur towards Wardha, first collided with a moped, seriously injuring a 33-year-old man, Shekhar Dipak Shirbhate, a resident of Rasne Nagar.
The impact of the crash did not stop there. The car then rammed into a traffic signal pole, leaving four passengers inside the vehicle injured. The victims, identified as Rohit, Kunal, Sushant, and Rishikesh Nitenware, were immediately taken to Orange City Hospital for treatment. However, due to the severity of his injuries, Rishikesh was shifted to the Medical Hospital Trauma Centre, where doctors declared him dead.
The injured individuals were in no condition to provide statements, making it difficult to gather details about the driver responsible for the accident. Based on a complaint by Chetan Ramesh Digraskar, a resident of Manejwada Road, Sonegaon police have registered a case against the unidentified driver under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and Motor Vehicles Act.
The police are actively investigating the matter to identify and take action against the driver.
