Nagpur, India- Tragedy struck a family when a teenage boy accidentally slipped into a pump house hole and drowned at Ambazari Lake on Tuesday night, meeting his end on his birthday.

The deceased, Pulkit Raj Shahdapuri (16), was a resident of Plot No. 178, behind Dayanand Arya Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Jaripatka.

Pulkit had celebrated his birthday with his family by cutting a cake around 12:05 am. Later, around 3:45 am, he and his friend Rishi Prem Khemani (17) went to Shankar Nagar Square to get breakfast at a snack stall. Finding the stall closed, they decided to spend some time by Ambazari Lake.

Near the pump house, they were playing PUBG on their phones. As they were leaving, Pulkit slipped into the pump house hole. Rishi shouted for help, and local divers managed to pull Pulkit out. He was rushed to Mayo Hospital with the help of bystanders, but doctors declared him dead on arrival. After recording the statement of Yogesh Jhamandas Shahsadpuri (33), a resident of Jaripatka, Ambazari police registered a case of accidental death.
