Kondhali was hit by a series of burglaries on Monday as thieves broke into three houses in Vikas Nagar and stole gold worth ₹1.20 lakh. The incidents occurred in broad daylight, sparking fear among residents.

According to the police, the thefts took place while the homeowners were away. Ankesh Ganesh Zod and his wife, who work at a solar company, had left early in the morning. Zod locked the house at 9:15 am before heading to work. Meanwhile, their neighbour, Sahebrao Digambar Bele’s wife, had gone to visit her mother.

Seizing the opportunity, the burglars struck around 10 am, breaking the locks and entering the houses. They stole gold jewellery, including a necklace and chain, along with cash from Zod’s cupboard. They also attempted to rob another house belonging to Narendra Nagorao Wankhede but found nothing valuable. A young girl from the neighbourhood witnessed the break-in but was too afraid to raise an alarm.

The crime was discovered when Zod’s wife returned home at 3:30 pm and found the house ransacked. Kondhali police were informed and have registered a case. The search for the culprits is ongoing.
