Nagpur, India: The ticket checking staff on the Geetanjali Express displayed exceptional vigilance and attention to detail, which resulted in the confiscation of 2 kilograms of ganja from a passenger on November 13.
Ajay Rahate and Satish Ghorpade, Deputy Chief Ticket Inspectors from Nagpur, were the railway employees who made the discovery. They apprehended the passenger during routine checks aboard train no. 12860, the Howrah Mumbai Geetanjali Express.
The instructions from Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Dilip Singh, who emphasized that Train Ticket Examiners (TTE) should stay alert not only for ticket inspections but also for handling passenger complaints, overseeing unauthorized vendors, and identifying other irregularities to ensure the safety and comfort of passengers on trains traveling through the division.
During the inspection, Rahate and Ghorpade noticed the passenger acting suspiciously. Upon conducting a detailed search, they discovered the individual was hiding 2 kilograms of cannabis, strapped around his abdomen with a belt like device. The suspect was immediately detained and handed over to the Railway Protection Force (RPF) for further legal action.
