Nagpur, India: A trader lost ₹15 lakh after being tricked into an investment scam with false promises of high returns.

Jogendersingh Rathod, 45, who runs an auto spare parts business near Azam Shah Square, was convinced by Nirajkumar Sahu, a longtime acquaintance, to invest in Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). Sahu claimed to work for the company and assured Rathod of good profits.

Trusting him, Rathod gave ₹15 lakh in cash in March 2023. Later, when he asked for interest on his investment, Sahu transferred ₹1 lakh to Rathod's wife's bank account. However, the account was soon blocked because the money was linked to cyber fraud.

Realising he had been cheated, Rathod reported the fraud to Lakadganj Police. A case has been registered against Sahu, and further investigations are ongoing.
