Nagpur, India: The Nagpur City Traffic Police have decided to block vehicle diversions at Rahate Colony Square and Kriplani Square starting Monday, from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM, following traffic jams on Wardha Road during evening hours. According to DCP Traffic Archit Chandak, there has been a significant increase in traffic between Nagpur and Wardha during peak hours.
Due to the proximity of Rahate Colony Square and Kriplani Square, vehicles from the Shaheed Govari Flyover often create congestion. Police observed that the number of vehicles turning at these squares is minimal compared to those travelling straight on the Nagpur-Wardha route. As a result, turning points at these squares will be blocked, and signals will be set to blinker mode to improve traffic flow. Extra traffic officers will also be stationed to monitor the situation. This experiment will take place from September 23 to 28, with further decisions made based on its success.
Key Traffic Changes:
1. Vehicles from Morris College T-point will proceed directly to Ajni Square without diversions at Rahate or Kriplani Squares.
2. Traffic from Ajni Square will move toward Morris College T-point without diversions.
3. Vehicles from Mata Kacheri heading to Kriplani Square will be diverted at Mata Kacheri to NEERI T-point, then take a left to Ajni Square before a U-turn to Manish Nagar flyover.
4. Vehicles from Ajni flyover or Congress Nagar T-point will make U-turns at Kriplani and Ajni Squares.
5. Traffic signals from Rahate Colony Square to Ajni Square will be in blinker mode during peak hours.
This plan aims to ease evening rush hour congestion and provide smoother traffic movement along Wardha Road.
