MANKAPUR Police have taken action against the driver of a trailer-truck involved in a major pile-up on Koradi Road. The incident, which occurred at Kalpana Talkies Square Sunday night, resulted in a collision with 12 vehicles.
Initially, reports suggested that a buffalo on the road was to blame, but investigations later revealed that the driver of the trailer-truck, identified as Vikrantsingh Rajendrasingh (25) from Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, was responsible for the chaos.
The collision involved nine cars, an ambulance, and two two-wheelers, all of which had come to a stop at a traffic signal. Vikrantsingh, allegedly driving recklessly and at high speed, collided with them from behind, causing significant damage and injuring six individuals. The impact was so intense that one car even vaulted over another vehicle.
Those injured were promptly taken to Kunal Hospital and Mayo Hospital for medical attention. Following a complaint from a local resident, Swapnil Gyaneshwar Wankhede, police have taken Vikrantsingh into custody and registered a case against him under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for rash driving and causing hurt.
