Nagpur, India: A major accident was narrowly avoided near Bodwad railway station in Jalgaon district on the morning of 14th March 2025 when a truck collided with the Mumbai-Amravati Amba Express train. The incident took place around 4:30 AM at a closed level crossing when a truck carrying wheat broke through the barrier and got stuck on the tracks.
Despite the loco pilot’s efforts to slow down the train, a collision occurred, causing the truck to split into two. The front portion of the truck became entangled with the train’s engine, but fortunately, no injuries were reported among passengers, the truck driver, or railway staff.
The impact caused damage to railway infrastructure, including overhead electric wires on the Mumbai-Kolkata route, leading to train delays in the section. Railway officials quickly initiated restoration work to resume normal operations as soon as possible.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident and may take legal action against the truck driver for negligence. The railway department has also urged motorists to strictly follow traffic rules at level crossings to prevent such dangerous accidents in the future.
