Nagpur, India: The Ambazari Police have arrested two individuals in connection with a major job fraud case, which left a Nagpur resident defrauded of ₹8.3 lakh. The arrests were made after an extensive investigation led by the Ambazari Police Sub-Inspector, Mangesh Dange, and his team.
The complainant, Nishant Prakashrao Tekade, 36, a resident of Panchavati, Katol Road, was in urgent need of a job. He approached his acquaintance, Deepak Kawduji Mupidwar, for assistance. Mupidwar, along with two other accomplices, Gaurav Ashok Uke, 29, and Anis Khan Gulam Rasul Khan, 44, allegedly conspired to deceive Tekade with the false promise of securing him a job as a Section Engineer in the Nagpur Metro.
Between April 3 and June 31, 2024, the accused called Tekade to the L.A.D. College Square Metro Station, under Ambazari Police Station's jurisdiction, where they promised him the job. They extracted a total of ₹8.3 lakh from Tekade over multiple meetings, eventually providing him with a fake joining letter.
After realizing he had been duped, Tekade lodged a complaint with the Ambazari Police. Following the complaint, a case was registered under several sections of the Indian Penal Code, including charges of criminal breach of trust, cheating, forgery, and conspiracy.
During the investigation, the police received credible information and, with the help of technical surveillance, successfully apprehended Uke and Khan. Both were taken into custody and are currently under interrogation. The third accused, Mupidwar, remains at large, and efforts are underway to locate him.
The Ambazari Police have assured the public that they are committed to bringing all those involved in the scam to justice. Further investigations are ongoing.
