Nagpur, India: Tragedy struck on Tuesday evening when an autorickshaw carrying eight passengers collided with a stationary crane at Khairi in the New Kamptee area. The accident claimed the lives of two women and left six others, including the driver, injured.

The victims were en route to Nagpur when the autorickshaw driver, identified as Satish, reportedly increased the vehicle’s speed near Khairi. Losing control, the autorickshaw veered off course and crashed into a crane parked by the roadside. The impact crushed the front portion of the vehicle, killing two women on the spot.

The deceased were identified as Nirmala Laxman Jumale (50) and Kausalyabai Kuhikar (60), both residents of Nagpur.

Emergency responders, including personnel from the New Kamptee Police, rushed to the scene. The bodies were sent to a government hospital for post-mortem examination, while the injured were taken to a private medical facility for treatment.

Police have registered a case of negligent driving against the autorickshaw driver and initiated an investigation into the incident.

The accident highlights the dangers of reckless driving and the need for stricter traffic safety measures to prevent such tragic incidents.
