Nagpur, India- An unmarried couple who met through a mutual friend on Instagram checked into OYO Silver Nest on Ghat Road early Friday. By morning, both had filed cross FIRs against each other, prompting an investigation by Ganeshpeth Police into the night's events.
The woman has accused Aniket Ashok Degde (27), a resident of Imamwada, of being forcefully involved in physical intimacy. In turn, Aniket has filed a counter FIR, claiming the woman assaulted him with a sharp-edged weapon.
According to police, the woman (19) is from Chandrapur and is currently a college student in Nagpur. Aniket works as a waiter at a local restaurant.
The couple, who met on Instagram and chatted for a few days, decided to meet on Thursday night. They went out for dinner and checked into the OYO Silver Nest hotel on Ghat Road after midnight.
After spending a few hours in the hotel, they went out for energy drinks before returning to their room. Around 5:30 to 6:00 am, an argument broke out. The woman alleged that Aniket raped her, while Aniket claimed she attacked him with a sharp-edged weapon, injuring his chest and hands.
Sources suggest that the couple might have consumed drugs. The police are awaiting medical reports to determine the next steps.
