Nagpur: Rail travel in Maharashtra is set for a major upgrade with the introduction of the Vande Bharat Sleeper, a high-speed train that will cut travel time between Nagpur, Mumbai, and Pune significantly. The Nagpur-Mumbai journey will now take just 10 hours, while the Nagpur-Pune route will be covered in a record 3 hours.

Faster Connectivity for Nagpur Passengers

Currently, trains like Duronto Express, Vidarbha Express, and Superfast Express take anywhere between 12 to 16 hours for the Nagpur-Mumbai trip. The Vande Bharat Sleeper will slash this time to 10 hours, offering passengers a faster, more comfortable option.

For Nagpur-Pune travelers, the journey currently takes 8 to 10 hours. The new sleeper train will cut this to just 3 hours, making it a game-changer for students, professionals, and frequent travelers.

Railway Proposal Under Review

Vinayak Garg, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Nagpur, confirmed that the Nagpur Board of Central Railway has submitted a proposal for the train to the Railway Board, which is currently under review. Given the high passenger demand on both routes, the introduction of this train is expected to ease congestion and reduce waitlists.

Why This Train is a Big Deal for Nagpur

Nagpur, a major railway junction handling 125+ trains daily, has limited direct options for Mumbai and Pune. Trains like Garib Rath, Humsafar Express, and Azad Hind Express run only a few times a week, often forcing passengers to rely on expensive flights or long road trips.
