Vidarbha is in the grip of a severe heat wave, with temperatures shooting past 40 degrees Celsius. The intense heat, known as Navtapa, has taken hold, impacting daily life across the region.

Nagpur has seen temperatures climb to 45.6 degrees Celsius, marking its first extreme heat of the summer. Streets are empty at noon as residents avoid the scorching sun. People are using scarves, caps, goggles, and carrying water bottles to cope with the heat.

Brahmapuri in Chandrapur district hit a record-breaking 47.1 degrees Celsius, the highest in the region. Other cities like Amravati and Wardha also experienced temperatures up to 45 degrees.

Akola, which has been the hottest for over a week, recorded 42.2 degrees on Monday. Buldana was the only district to stay below 40 degrees, with a high of 39.4 degrees.

Night temperatures are rising too, with most districts seeing lows between 28 and 30 degrees Celsius. The entire region is sweltering, and residents are preparing for more hot days ahead.
