Vidarbha, Amravati, Yavatmal, India: The police have increased vehicle checks in various towns of Vidarbha to prevent the illegal movement of cash and jewellery ahead of the Assembly elections on November 20.

On Wednesday, the police confiscated ₹1,38,500 from a car at State Bank Square in Yavatmal.

Reports suggest that the money was allegedly being transported by a firecracker vendor in his car, which had the registration number MH-49 BW-2969.

When the car driver was interrogated about the money, he was unable to provide a convincing explanation. This operation was carried out by Sub-Divisional Police Officer Dinesh Baisane, City Police Station Officer Satish Chavre, along with CRPF and local police officers.

In Amravati, a special team from the city police conducted a vehicle inspection during morning patrols on the 6th and discovered ₹1.10 crore in cash.

The Election Commission team determined that the cash found originated from a bank, and as a result, the car driver was released without facing any consequences. The operation took place in front of the Rajapeth police station on Wednesday, led by PI Asaram Chormale and his special team.
