Vidarbha: Vidarbha's first mineral corridor, stretching 85 kilometers from Surjagarh to the extended Samruddhi Highway, is set to be constructed. This new route will significantly reduce transportation time, allowing steel that currently takes about two hours to reach Konsari via the existing route to be delivered in just one hour.
The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) will create a new route linking the Chandrapur Highway to the Surjagarh Mines. This project is anticipated to boost the economy of Gadchiroli district, located in the remote areas of Vidarbha.
The corridor is expected to open up new development opportunities for the region. Currently, goods are transported to the Konsari Industrial Area via Headri on a single road, covering a distance of 100 kilometers. However, this route presents challenges, especially when two trucks are coming from opposite directions.
To resolve these challenges, a proposal for a new greenfield corridor has been created. This 85-kilometer elevated route will have no bridges or underpasses, providing a straight, two-lane road through dense forests, allowing for smooth and efficient traffic flow in both directions.
