Several firms in Mumbai's Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) have asked their staff to work remotely starting from 12th July till 15th July. This is because of the heavy traffic restrictions around Jio World Convention Centre for the wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant. The nuptials are deemed “public event” by police, expected to be high-profile attended by dignitaries from India and other countries. As per a directive, roads within proximate of the venue will only be open to “event vehicles” between 1 pm-midnight on specified dates. These moves which regulate movement of people and goods on city streets have or continue to elicit angry outbursts amongst local dwellers as well as social media platforms. There has been a lot of frustration expressed concerning disruption caused during working days due to this limitation. The forthcoming wedding is the culmination of months-long extravagant pre-wedding activities that were held in India as well as overseas locations. Earlier, there were lavish parties both at Jamnagar in Gujarat State and on a luxury cruise somewhere in Europe when Mukesh and Nita Ambani were hosting some celebrations before marriage began officially. In Mumbai, last week witnessed a series of events leading up to Friday’s knot tying ceremony between Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant; the union is likely to get more glamorous and attract considerable press attention as well.
