Yavatmal: A tragic road accident occurred on the Nagpur-Tuljapur National Highway near Sukali village in Arni taluka on Thursday morning, February 20, around 10 AM. A car carrying devotees returning from Prayagraj collided with a tanker, resulting in the death of a woman and serious injuries to her son.
The deceased has been identified as Vimal Balchandra Mahamune (67), a resident of Chikhli Dhadeshwar, Dharashiv. Her son, Rahul Balchandra Mahamune (35), sustained severe injuries and is undergoing treatment. Two other women in the car suffered minor injuries.
According to reports, the family had travelled to Prayagraj from Dharashiv (Osmanabad) to attend the Maha Kumbh Mela and was on its way back home via Arni. Near Sukali village, their car (MH 25 BA-5198) crashed into a tanker heading from Yavatmal to Mahur.
The impact of the collision was severe, causing Vimal Mahamune to die on the spot. Her son was critically injured, while Gurudevi Mahamune (36), Shilpa Ganesh Tuljapurkar (34), and Dattapure Potdar (32) suffered minor injuries.
Local authorities arrived at the scene, and the injured were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Further investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.
