Nagpur, India: The Yashodhara Nagar police arrested a 25-year-old man, Wasim Patel, on August 22, 2024, for possessing a large quantity of cannabis. The arrest took place around 9:00 PM following a tip-off received by the police.
Acting on the reliable information, officers conducted a raid at Patel's residence near Hamid Nagar, adjacent to Nuri Masjid, and found 2.32 kg of cannabis, estimated to be worth ₹59,600. The cannabis was discovered in a white plastic bag. Additionally, police seized a Vivo mobile phone valued at ₹12,000, bringing the total value of the seized items to ₹81,600.
Patel was found with the drugs and a mobile phone. During questioning, Patel admitted to selling the drugs for personal gain and revealed that Shakeel Contractor from Garib Nawaz Nagar was aiding him in the operation.
The police registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, following a complaint filed by officer Ganesh Gupta. Patel has been arrested, and the investigation is ongoing.
The operation was led by Deputy Commissioner of Police and Assistant Commissioner of Police, with notable contributions from officers Ramesh Khune, Suhas Raut, Rahul Rathod, and Ganesh Gupta.
