Nagpur, India- The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a Yellow alert on Friday, predicting heavy rain and thunderstorms in Nagpur and several parts of Vidarbha and Maharashtra within the next 24 hours.

The Yellow alert covers the districts of Nagpur, Wardha, Gondia, Washim, Yavatmal, Amravati, Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Sindhudurg, Kolhapur, and Satara. These areas are expected to experience lightning and thunderstorms with winds blowing at 40-50 km/h.

For the past week, the Vidarbha region has been dealing with heavy and untimely rains. While Vidarbha faces heavy rain, other parts of Maharashtra are experiencing intense heat and rising temperatures.

The IMD advises residents in the affected areas to stay indoors during heavy rain and thunderstorms. Secure any outdoor objects that could be blown away by strong winds. Avoid standing under trees or near water bodies during lightning and thunderstorms.
