Nagpur, India: Sumit Chintalwar now been linked to the sexual exploitation of young women caught in the web of drug addiction. The gang allegedly lured these women with promises of free drugs, only to trap them. However, many victims have been too afraid to come forward due to the gang's terror.
On December 30, 2024, the NDPS (Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Cell of the Crime Branch conducted a raid on Koradi Road, uncovering a drug racket operating from a car. The operation resulted in the seizure of MD worth ₹55 lakh, and five members of the gang were arrested, including Sumit Chintalwar, Mihir Mishra, Palash Divekar, Sheikh Atiq alias Bhuru Sheikh, and Manish Kushwaha.
The gang had been transporting MD, intending to supply it to party organizers, hotel, and pub operators in time for New Year’s Eve celebrations. Sumit Chintalwar, who has been involved in MD smuggling for years, was previously jailed under the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA).
While in prison, his associates took over the operations. After being granted bail six months ago, Sumit resumed control of the smuggling network and began using couriers with fake identities to avoid detection.
This latest bust has exposed not only the gang’s drug trafficking activities but also their involvement in exploiting vulnerable women, raising concerns over the safety and well-being of those affected.
