Ojas Deotale Honored by RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat After Asian Games Triumph
In a momentous meeting on Monday, Ojas Deotale, the shining star of India at the recent Hangzhou Asian Games, was felicitated by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Chief Mohan Bhagwat. Ojas, who clinched an impressive three gold medals in the compound archery event, met Bhagwat despite his busy schedule.
The triumphant athlete secured gold in the men's individual, mixed team, and men's team events, making him the sole bearer of three golds for the entire Indian contingent at the quadrennial sporting extravaganza.
Expressing eagerness to meet Ojas, Bhagwat congratulated him and pledged to explore options for providing a suitable practice space for archery in the city. Emphasizing the untapped talent in tribal areas like Gadchiroli, Bhagwat underscored the need to nurture the sport of archery in such regions.
During the meeting, Bhagwat honored Ojas with a shawl, shreeephal, and a special memento. Ojas was accompanied by his family - father Pravin, mother Archana, and brother Jatin.
In recognition of Ojas's outstanding achievement, the Maharashtra Government, through a Government Resolution (GR), announced a revised cash reward for Asian Games medal winners. Ojas stands to receive around Rs 2.5 crore for his exemplary feat. The senior Deotale confirmed the completion of all formalities for the cash reward and revealed that they have also fulfilled the necessary paperwork for the prestigious Arjuna Award.
Ojas Deotale's success not only brings pride to the nation but also highlights the commitment of influential figures like Mohan Bhagwat towards fostering and supporting excellence in sports, especially in underrepresented regions.
