 Railway Protection Force Seized Gold Biscuits Valued at ₹5.4 Crore On Howrah-Pune Azad Hind Express in Nagpur

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) in Nagpur, aided by officers from the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), successfully captured two gold smugglers carrying 8.5 to 9 kilograms of gold biscuits valued at around Rs 5.4 crore on Train No. 12130 Howrah-Pune Azad Hind Express on October 12.

Acting on a credible tip-off, the RPF team, led by the Senior Divisional Security Commissioner in Nagpur, initiated the operation. The accused are now in DRI custody for further investigation.

The two suspects, identified as Rahul (36 years old) and Baluram (41 years old), both residents of Nagpur, were discovered in seats 28 and 24 of the S-4 coach. They had two bags containing the smuggled gold biscuits.

The team, consisting of eight dedicated RPF personnel, including Head Constable Madan Lal, Constable Mohan Lal Dewangan, CT Amol Chahajgune, CT Sachin Sirsat, Sub-inspector Mukesh Rathore, CT Jasvir Singh, and Lady Constable Sirin, collaborated with the Inspector of the Crime Investigation Branch (CIB) in Nagpur and three DRI officers to identify and apprehend the suspects.

Swift action led to the detention of the suspects at Nagpur Railway Station, on platform number 8, with the assistance of on-duty RPF staff. They were then transported to the DRI office for further legal procedures.
