Yashodharanagar Police Seize Banned Tobacco Worth ₹2.1 Lakh in Nagpur
Nagpur, Inida: On 20th January 2025, Yashodharanagar police in Nagpur conducted a raid at Paras Kirana Stores in Waghoba Nagar Slum, Bhilgaon Road, and seized banned tobacco products worth ₹2,10,144. Acting on reliable information, the police arrested Mohammad Mustakeen (54), the shop owner, for illegally possessing the prohibited items for sale.
The seized products included various types of scented tobacco and gutkha, banned under Sections 123, 223, 274, and 275 of the Indian Penal Code, along with Section 59 of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. The accused was allegedly planning to sell these products for financial profit.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of Nagpur Police Commissioner Ravindra Kumar Singal, Joint Commissioner of Police Nisar Tamboli, Deputy Commissioner of Police Pramod Shewale, and Assistant Commissioner of Police Niketan Kadam. Officers Ramesh Khune, Suhas Raut, Sadashiv Kanse, Pramod Kangale, Amol Bhedekar, and Rahul Shetty were part of the team.
The police have warned against the sale of banned products and urged the public to report such activities to help maintain safety and compliance with the law.
