19-Year-Old Murdered for Allegedly Following Accused’s Sister-in-Law In Nagpur

Nagpur, India: A 19-year-old youth lost his life after an assault in the Adivasi Prakash Nagar area under the jurisdiction of Kalamna Police Station. The incident occurred on December 24, 2024, around 7:00 PM near a temple behind a handcart in the locality.

The victim, identified as Rahul Sachin Gupta, a resident of Galli No. 11, Adivasi Prakash Nagar, was allegedly attacked by Raja Ashfaq Sheikh (22), a resident of the same neighbourhood. The altercation reportedly arose from a dispute where the accused claimed that Rahul was following his sister-in-law.

During the confrontation, Raja assaulted Rahul with a wooden stick, inflicting severe injuries. Rahul’s mother, Vidya Sachin Gupta, later brought him home after being informed about the incident. Despite her suggestion to seek medical attention, Rahul refused to visit the hospital.

On the morning of December 25, Rahul became unresponsive. His family rushed him to Mayo Hospital, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival.

Following the tragedy, Rahul's mother filed a complaint at Kalamna Police Station. Based on her statement, police registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including charges of assault and culpable homicide.

The investigating officer, Sub-Inspector Raut, led the efforts that resulted in the arrest of the accused, Raja Ashfaq Sheikh. The police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
