20-Year-Old Rescued from Rape Attempt After Sending Live Location to Friend
In Nagpur, a 20-year-old student escaped an assault by cleverly sharing her live location with a friend, leading to a timely rescue. The incident happened in the Nandanvan area. The accused, Swapnil Shyam Lakshane (24), who owns a salon in Pardi, allegedly tried to assault her after giving her alcohol.
Swapnil was known to one of the victim's relatives. He invited her to a roadside eatery, saying that her relative would also be there. Before leaving, the victim told her cousin about the meeting but informed her family that she was attending a college event.
At the eatery, Swapnil was with two friends. He ordered food and drinks, assuring her that her relative would join them soon. The relative did arrive but left after some time. Later, when the victim wanted to go home, Swapnil insisted she was not in a condition to drive and offered to drop her home.
Instead of taking her home, he drove to a hotel in Hasanbagh, where he allegedly tried to assault her. The victim managed to lock herself in the bathroom and contacted a friend, sharing her live location. The friend was nearby and quickly came to rescue her.
After reaching home, she informed her family about the incident. A case has been filed at Nandanvan police station, and the investigation is ongoing.
