23-Year-Old Man Killed in Hit-and-Run Incident at Wathoda Square, Nagpur

Nagpur, India: A 23-year-old man was killed when a Bolero vehicle ran over him near Wathoda Square on the night of November 6 at approximately 9:30 PM. The driver, who was allegedly intoxicated, was attacked by an angry crowd after the incident. Police intervened promptly to prevent the situation from worsening.

The deceased has been identified as 23-year-old Vivek Vijay Rananavare, a resident of Chaitanyeshwar Nagar, Wathoda. After the incident, the police filed a case and arrested the Bolero driver, Vishnu Dhakulkar, 46, from Anmol Nagar. Sources reveal that Vivek was a student living in Nagpur.

On November 6, after having tea at his uncle Janardan Surse’s house, Vivek was riding his motorcycle (MH-40-CU-1768) back home through Wathoda Square. At that moment, Dhakulkar, driving a Bolero (MH-49-AT-6792) at high speed, struck him. Vivek was run over by the vehicle’s front wheels and succumbed to his injuries while being taken to the hospital.

Witnesses at the scene noted that the driver appeared to be intoxicated, and in a fit of anger, they dragged him out of the vehicle and beat him before contacting the police. The authorities quickly arrived, arrested the driver, and filed a case. An investigation is currently underway.
