23-Year-Old Held in Nandanvan with MD Powder Worth Rs 6 Lakh

Nagpur, India: The Crime Branch Social Security Department arrested a 23-year-old youth and recovered illegal substances like MD Powder, cash, and a weapon in Nandanvan, Nagpur, on the night of November 30, 2024.

The operation took place between 11:00 PM and 1:45 AM on December 1, 2024, following a tip-off about suspicious activity in the Sadbhavna Nagar area, near Durugkar’s clinic. Acting on the information, the Crime Branch set up a trap and held a suspect, later identified as Mohammad Abrar Mohammad Nisar Ansari, a resident of Plot No. 163, Sadbhavna Nagar, Nagpur.

During the search, authorities found 52.92 grams of MD powder hidden in a press lock packet, along with Rs. 11,000 in cash, a mobile phone, and an iron sword. A subsequent search of his residence led to the discovery of an additional Rs. 50,000 in cash. The total value of the seized items is estimated at Rs. 6,05,700.

Ansari has been charged under various sections of the NDPS Act, Arms Act, and other relevant provisions. He has been handed over to the Nandanvan police for further investigation and action. The operation was conducted under the guidance of Police Commissioner Ravindra Kumar Singla, Assistant Police Commissioner Nisaar Tamboli, and other senior officials of Nagpur City. Further investigations are underway.
