26-Year-Old Woman Murdered Near MIDC Bus Stand in Nagpur
Nagpur, India: A tragic incident shook the Umred as the body of a 26-year-old woman was discovered near the MIDC bus stand on Monday morning. Police reported that the woman, a second-year BA student, lived with her mother, who works as an agriculture laborer, and her brother.
According to family accounts, the woman left home on Sunday morning, informing her mother that she was attending a college camp and would return by evening. When she did not come home that night, her concerned mother called her. During the call, the daughter stated she was in Bramhapuri, about 50 km away from Umred, and mentioned she would not be returning. A man then spoke on the phone, telling the mother he would not let her daughter come back.
The following morning, at around 9:30 am, passers-by discovered the woman’s body near the MIDC bus stop and alerted the police. Umred Police officers arrived promptly, and the body was sent for a post-mortem examination. Preliminary reports from doctors indicate signs of sexual assault, and they believe the woman was strangled.
A cryptic message was reportedly found on the woman’s hand, reading “Lokesh ne insta war rape kela majha,” pointing to a possible suspect. Superintendent of Police Dr. Harssh Poddar and Local Crime Branch officials visited the scene and have since launched a full investigation to track down those responsible.
