29-Year-Old Man Arrested for Kidnapping Minor Girl
Vidarbha,Wardha: A 29-year-old man has been arrested for kidnapping a 13-year-old girl nine months ago. The accused, Shubham Vitthal Thakare, from Sindhi (Meghe), was taken into custody from Jalgaon district after a lengthy investigation.
The kidnapping occurred on March 27, 2024, when the girl was lured with promises of marriage and taken away by the accused. A complaint was filed by the girl's family at the Wardha City Police Station, and a case was registered under Section 363 of the Indian Penal Code.
Despite the initial efforts, the Wardha City Police were unable to solve the case, leading to the investigation being transferred to the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Cell. With help from informers and technical investigations, the police traced the accused and discovered that he had kept the girl in Shri Krishna Nagar, Jamner, in Jalgaon district.
Both the girl and the accused were brought back to Wardha and handed over to the local police station. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the case.
This action was carried out by officers of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Cell, led by Subhash Raut, Nitesh Meshram, Shabana Sheikh, Navnath Munde, and Akshay Raut, with support from the Cyber Cell under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Anurag Jain. The investigation was overseen by Additional SP Dr. Sagar Kavade, Police Inspector Vinod Chaudhary of LCB, and Police Inspector Madhuri Waghade.
