3-Year-Old Girl Beaten to Death by Mother and Live-In Partner in Khaparkheda, Nagpur
Nagpur, India: A 3-year-old girl from Khaparkheda near Nagpur has died in a heartbreaking case of abuse. Shruti (name changed) was allegedly beaten to death by her mother, Priti (name changed), and her live-in partner, Rajpal Malviya, on December 26.
At first, Priti claimed that Shruti died from pneumonia and high fever. She took the child’s body to her native village in Gondia for burial the next day. However, relatives became suspicious when Priti refused to follow the usual funeral rituals, like bathing the body. When they removed the shroud, they noticed injuries on Shruti’s ankles.
Priti tried to explain her actions, but relatives became even more worried and contacted the authorities. The police exhumed the child’s body for a post-mortem, which revealed that Shruti had died from a fatal head injury, confirming that she had been harmed.
After further investigation, the police discovered that Priti and Malviya’s frustrations with Shruti led to the violence. On December 26, the couple allegedly beat the little girl with sticks, resulting in her death. Reports also suggest that Malviya disliked Shruti because of her fair complexion, which drew attention compared to his own darker skin.
Priti, who had a son from her first marriage, moved to Nagpur after her second husband died. She began living with Malviya, but their relationship became toxic, with Shruti becoming the target of their anger.
Priti and Malviya were arrested on Friday and are currently in police custody until January 6. This tragic case highlights the horrors of child abuse, where personal issues led to the death of an innocent child.
The police continue to investigate, and the community mourns the loss of a young girl who was tragically hurt by those who should have cared for her.
