411 Cases Filed, Over ₹1.5 Crore Worth of Liquor Seized in Gadchiroli

Vidarbha, Gadchiroli, Nagpur: A total of 411 cases involving liquor prohibition and various other crimes have been filed in Gadchiroli district since the implementation of the election code of conduct.

Six employees have been charged for neglecting their duties while assigned electoral responsibilities, as announced by District Election Officer and District Collector Sanjay Daine, along with Superintendent of Police Neelotpal, during a press conference on November 18. Five of these employees were from the Aheri Assembly constituency, and one was from the Gadchiroli Assembly constituency, according to the officials.

Daine stated that various teams are prepared to prevent malpractices such as the illegal sale of liquor, distribution and possession of money, and the distribution of enticing items to voters, while strictly enforcing the model code of conduct across all three assembly constituencies.

In the Armori Assembly constituency, approximately 219 liters of liquor and other materials valued at ₹2,88,289 were seized, while in the Gadchiroli Assembly constituency, fixed and mobile surveillance teams confiscated 131 liters of liquor and materials worth ₹4,23,345.

Surveillance teams in the Aheri area confiscated a total cash amount of ₹2,750,000, along with around 399 liters of liquor and other materials valued at ₹1,415,140.

A total of ₹7,50,000 in cash, approximately 750.15 liters of liquor valued at ₹3,79,364, and other materials estimated at ₹29,97,410 were seized across all three constituencies in the district, with the total value of the seized items amounting to ₹21,26,774.

The Vigilance Teams, along with various government departments such as the Police and Excise Department, confiscated liquor and other materials valued at an estimated total of ₹1,51,30,615.
