4.2 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Amravati District, No Casualties Reported

Amravati, India: A 4.2 magnitude earthquake hit Maharashtra’s Amravati district on Monday afternoon, according to the State Disaster Management. The tremors were recorded at 1:37 PM and were felt in several areas of the district, though no casualties or major damage have been reported.

The earthquake affected regions such as Chikhaldara, Katkumbh, Churni, Pachdongri, and Melghat. Residents in Paratwada city, Dharni, and Akot also experienced the tremors, as confirmed by Amravati’s Resident Deputy Collector, Anil Bhatkar.

Authorities have urged residents to remain calm and assured that the situation is under control. In an update on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the State Disaster Management stated: “Mild earthquake: Amravati. Tremors measuring 4.2 on the Richter Scale were felt at 1:37 PM today (30th September) near Amravati: National Center for Seismology. Citizens are requested to remain calm.”
