55-Year-Old Businessman Arrested for Raping Ninth-Grade Student in Nagpur
Nagpur : A 55-year-old businessman was arrested for allegedly raping his friend’s 15-year-old daughter after luring her with expensive gifts. The accused, identified as Sanjay Sasane from Sinjar, Tal. Narkhed, was taken into custody by Kondhali police, while his accomplice, Suresh Dhopre, remains absconding.
According to police reports, the victim, a ninth-grade student, lived with her parents and younger brother within the jurisdiction of Kondhali police station. Sanjay, a cotton trader and a close friend of the girl’s father, frequently visited their home, bringing gifts and chocolates. Over time, he allegedly manipulated the girl into a romantic relationship by showering her with expensive clothes and gifts.
Sanjay allegedly visited her house when her parents were not at home and promised to marry her. He maintained contact with her through an expensive mobile phone he had gifted. Suspicions arose when neighbors noticed his frequent visits, prompting her father to send her to her aunt’s house for a few days.
Feeling threatened by this separation, Sanjay allegedly conspired with his business associate, Suresh Dhopre, to kidnap the girl. On the night of February 20, Suresh reportedly took the girl from her aunt’s residence and brought her to Jamkhed, where Sanjay took her to a rented room in Saunsar, Madhya Pradesh. There, he allegedly raped her throughout the night before returning her home the next day.
The incident came to light when the girl’s parents filed a complaint of kidnapping at Kondhali police station. During the investigation, police detained Sanjay, who initially denied the allegations but later confessed to keeping the girl at his rented accommodation in Saunsar. The girl was rescued, and based on her statement, a case of kidnapping and rape was registered against Sanjay, leading to his arrest.
Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend his accomplice, Suresh Dhopre, who is currently on the run. The investigation is continuing as police gather further evidence related to the case.
