56-Year-Old Commits Suicide After Threats from Moneylenders in Nagpur

Nagpur, India: A 56-year-old man named Abhay Pralhad Joshi died by suicide at his home in Dhantoli, Nagpur, after being harassed by moneylenders and a neighbour. Joshi, who lived at Shri Bungalow on Tikekar Road, consumed poison on Tuesday.  

The police have filed a case against Anis Bhai, Yunus Bhai, and Parwez Bhai from Central Avenue, along with Jagdish Sukhdev from Dhantoli. Joshi’s family found him dead in the morning and informed the police. When the police arrived, they found a glass with yellow liquid and two suicide notes pasted on the wall.  

In the notes, Joshi mentioned that he had returned the money to Anis, Yunus, and Parwez before the COVID-19 lockdown, but they still kept harassing him and even threatened his life. He also wrote that Sukhdev was demanding ₹50 lakh from him.  

The police have started an investigation and said that the accused are known for using threats to recover money. They assured that all the accused would be taken into custody soon.
